Filing Today...Any thing I should make sure to check?

We have an appointment with our attorney today to sign our paperwork and he is going to file our petition and supporting documents today electronically.

We are bringing our usual documentation so that we have stuff to check numbers and such with. Does anyone have any last minute thoughts to add?

I realize that you have to watch what your attorney files closely because of possible errors.

Thank all of you on this forum for your help thus far!

Be sure to confirm account numbers match the name and address of the account. We found that a couple of the numbers had been mixed up with each other and were with creditors that did not coincide with that account.

Also double check that account numbers were typed correctly. We had one that was missing 2 zeros and one that had a couple of numbers switched. I am sure thats a typo mistake but I was still glad I caught them before it all got filed.

Ichb, Momof5 gave you great pointers! I would add also to carefully compare Schedule B to Schedule C, and make sure anything you want to keep is listed on both. Look over the means test and make sure there's nothing GLARINGLY off, same for Schedules I & J.

That, and don't sign any blank forms. Seriously. Some attys have clients do this because it allows them to (supposedly) go back, make corrections, and then file the corrected forms without bothering you again. Don't do this. Be bothered. Refuse to sign anything blank or incorrect. You'll be glad you did. Or, at least *less sorry* than those who went ahead and signed blank or incorrect forms believing the atty would correct them as promised...

      Good luck!!!
Nolo Press book on filing Chapter 7, there are others too. (I have no affiliation with Nolo Press; just a happy customer.) Best wishes to you!
