Be Careful w/ Pacer..Fees add up quick!

This is for all those that are new to using Pacer. I thought I was being really careful. I read every post on this site about using Pacer.

Today I check my balance and apparently on the 13th I clicked docket report which ended up being 154 pages... I know that I did not copy or read anything that was 154 pages so apparently I must have clicked and then went back thinking that nothing went through.

I am now up to $21.50 in charges. I know I have read about a few people here who had upwards of $50 or more dollars on their account so I am going to stay away for a couple of weeks or maybe just check a few days after my 341 on Tuesday.

It was a good feeling to be able to check my case and feel like I was staying on top of things. I highly doubt the attorney would call everytime something was different. So far only 2 creditors/ attorneys for creditors have been listed to additional filers and I know thats not a big deal.

Just a heads up for those new to using Pacer. Be careful what you click!

YIKES, NEVER GO TO REPORTS!! It will cost you. Always go to query and docket and you can see by the date at the top if anything new has been added before you view the documents.

          Hard lesson learned....

So there is specific area that will tell you the date of anything new added? Will it tell you exactly which link the new information is as well?

When you go to query look at the top of the page it shows your personal info and says "date of last filing". If the date has not changed from the last time you looked nothing new has been added and if you don't open it any further you shouldn't be charged. If you see a new date of filing look at the docket report and it shows everything on one page you only get charged to look at the documents you want to open. I learned from this board about never clicking on reports!

You only get a bill if your balance excedes a certain amount (I can't recall what the $ amount is right now.

The only time I got sent a bill is the day that I decided to be nosy and put a bunch of my relatives names into the query.

Yeppers, I got a 100 dollar charge on mine. I now download and rename each report so if I wish to review it, it is on my pc. I'll check that other thing out that 'Vleisme' said. 'Hub
