Engine blew on my car. Questions/Confirmations

The engine on my car blew over the weekend. (2002 VW Passat)

The repair would cost close to what the car is worth total, not to mention the $4500 I owe on it. I never did sign the reaffirmation agreement on that car. I assume I can/should just walk away from it?

Hopefully I'll be able to find a replacement somehow.

Talk to your Insurance agent first and look for recalls you may have had an issue that is covered
