I paid my filing fee, signed all paperwork and should be getting my case number later today.

We were over the median amount, but after doing the I & J we were negative.

The 341 should be in 1 month. And normally the 341 last about 5 minutes and creditors have never shown up for the cases my attorney has been involved with.

I asked about trustees, and there seems to be a not so nice one in my area. I am praying I don't get that one.

The attorney said I might have some issue with the UST because of the amount of debt. He told me not to worry, whatever extra documents might be needed we would get and give to them.

Here's crossing my fingers that everything goes smooth.

Not being nosy here but what did your attorney say about the high amount of debt? We are $65,000 in unsecured debt and was wandering if that would throw a red flag or not. We are hoping to file a 7 next week. Good luck and keep us informed.

He said because my unsecured debt is over 150k that the UST might want a year worth of bank statements and CC statements. He also said not to worry about it.

I wanted to add that when I walking to see the attorney I saw a couple talking to another lawyer. The wife had a Louis Vuitton purse(and it was real) and expensive jewelry on. I asked the paralegal if they were filing, she said yes.

The paralegal also said that she has seen many women come in there with expensive things on. She even had a couple that went out and bought a Lexus and Denali a month before they came in to file BK.

But, we had $60K in unsecured debt and no one said anything about it. Our attorney told us anything over $100K sends up red flags.

I agree it is probably because of people like that.

I was told to wear casual business attire when I do have my 341.

That would just be SO past being stupid to flaunt obviously expensive things. Maybe people like that are what has resulted in the questionnaires and the Trustees to be so 'hard' on ‘little’ people like us?

When we went to our 341, we were dressed in casual business attire—nice pants and blouse for me and white shirt, sports jacket and slacks for him—that was several years old. Many of the other folks in the room awaiting their turn were dressed in jeans and tee-shirts. The best dressed people there were the attorneys. I also left my wedding rings off, though I found out later through this forum that wedding rings are okay.

We are at $120k unsecured debt. We have been told it means that the UST might ask for some extra documentation, primarily to make sure we didn't run up a bunch of large luxury purchases or trying to hide anything (I.e. fraud)
