ok ok ok.
It's pretty silly actually.
It sounds like you already have it worked out though...just make sure you double check & triple check EVERYTHING on the paperwork (including ss#, birthdate, spelling, the figures---EVERYTHING & understand exactly what every line means before you sign it & file. OK???
I have a couple of more thoughts on possibilites but will post tomorrow.
Get some rest if you can & things will look clearer in the day time

I personally am not paying my lawyer in full until that very day I am ready to file.

Ok, that part makes sense then.
I paid my attorney in March and I just sent my paperwork to him this week. I will be filing in June.

Did you see other attorneys before you picked this one?

I am not at all comfortable filing before the 91 days is up. His assistant already emailed me this afternoon saying that they'll file next week. I told him no way, I won't sign until the 91 days are up. So at least I'll have 2 weeks to scan the papers with a fine tooth comb. I really appreciate everyone's replies and perspectives. He's paid, we're waiting the two more weeks to file and then I'll just hope the 341 goes smooth - wouldn't that be nice!

jUst take the next two weeks to go over the schedules with a fine tooth comb like you say before you sign & you might have to be a little bit agressive if they try to push or you need something changed but don't let them rush you, even if you have to wait a little longer than expected, patience & double checking is going to be in your best interest. You are right by waiting the 91 days, because you don't want anything like that coming back to haunt you.
then your 341 & all goes smooth & you just wait for you happy dance discharge
I am not telling you what to do, please understand, just saying what I would do if I were in the same position as you are.

It being a very large firm explains alot of the confusion. My guess would be that you ran into an automated or an office policy issue. I'm sure their billings software automatically flags accounts that haven't been paid in X number of days as past due and those are atomatically sent on for collections.
I have run into this before with other big companies. If their is a different prior agreement in place it can usually be resolved rather quickly as this seems to be.
If this lawyer has a number of clients (which it sound like he does) then it is logical that it would take a number of emails or calls to with "but we agreed to ..." and him checking his records to get it taken care of. It sounds like once he rebriefed himself on your case you made good progress on getting the issues resolved. It just sounds like you may need to keep reminding him "we haven't been in the new state for 91 days yet"
While it is anoying I'm glad you got it all resolved.Filed: 10/26/2006

Thanks Bandit and JollyGG....yes, I am definitely going over everything very, very carefully! I have an appt to call him this morning to go over everything one more time on the phone and get the packet emailed to me to double check while waiting for the hard copy. I appreciate everyone's reply.Experience is what you get when you don't get what you wanted.

i think the fees they charge are ridiculous. We looked for an attorney to file BK and they wanted about $1700 avg. We filed pro se, messed it up, and wnded up getting an attorney any way, but the one we went with charged $300 to ammend the entire petition.
With the $200 we spent on pro se, $300 to file and $300 for the attorney we still came out cheaper in the end. There should be a limit on how much attorneys can charge for BK.
DBChapter 7 filed 3/31/08
341 5/12/08
Last day for objection 7/11/08
