    American General Finance Furniture Question...

We purchased some furniture back in December 07 through Ameican General. The total purchase price was $1100 and has since increased to $1400 due to interest.

My attorney listed them with our filing and put that we wanted to reaffirm at $750...the current value of the furniture.

We have not gotten a reaffirmation agreement from them, but I did make a payment since filing.

Question: I don't want to make anymore payments without that reaffirmation agreement. Will they come repossess my furniture?

They can't while your in bankruptcy without filing a motion to lift the stay with the court. In fact they can't even mail you a bill without doing that.

My advice, get on the horn and see what the lawyer has heard back from them. Maybe he's heard about the reaffirmation. Whether he has or not take time to ask what you should do and how you feel.

Generally these places don't repossess electronics or furniture, the price of them just drops to fast.

I agree with JRScott, furniture and electronics depreciates so quickly, they would prefer the money rather than your furniture. I'm sure you will be able to come to some sort of agreement with them. Call your atty. again to see if he's heard from them yet.
