Chapter 7 bankruptcy pro se filing

    Hi.

I am in the process of filing chapter 7 pro se. I am using a demo program called Best Case Bankruptcy. Since this is a demo program, it prints the word "demo" on all copies. However, I will transfer the info to the correct format once I'm done. So far the software has been handy.

    Questions:

    1. When filing, can I mail my papers in or must I use PACER/ECF? If I use PACER, is the format PDF? If I can mail them, is it a good idea to mail them certified?
    2. When filling out the creditor matrix I have been listing both the creditor, for example, Capital One Credit Card, and the company doing the collection for them. Some companies (credit card and others) have been through one collection agency who has then turned around and sold it to another collection agency. Should I list just the original creditor, the original creditor and the current collection agency, or the original creditor, the current collection agency and all former collection agencies involved?
    3. I am currently in college and will receive my degree this December. I know I cannot discharge taxes or student loan debt; however, what I'm concerned about is the money I will receive this fall for financial aid. If the 341 meeting hasn't occurred or if the bankruptcy has not been filed by the time my financial aid comes in (Approximately 8-15-05), do I need to revise my filing to show the financial aid money as an asset? If so, will this money be taken to absolve outstanding debt (I should be receiving about $4000). I really can't afford to finish school without the help of financial aid.
    4. I had a vehicle repossessed a few years back. An old girlfriend is a co-signor. Do I need to list her anywhere?
    5. Do monetary amounts owed need to be exact? Some of my debts are not listed on the credit report (small doctor bills, for example) and I'm guessing at the amount.

Sorry for the length of these questions. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I will be filing through the Western District of Missouri if that is any help.

    Thanks,

    A.

    1. If you are Pro Se, you file them in person.

    2. Always try to list the original creditor if you can. List everyone you know of that has handled the account.

    3. Any money you earn AFTER you have filed your petition is not part of your Bankruptcy. This gets a little tricky in your situation, as your right to the money may have been created before you file. However, the general rule is that any earnings that occur after you file you petition are not part of the BK estate.

    4. There should be a form for "Co Debtors", her name would go there.

    5. Monetary amounts do not have to be exact, in fact, you can even list them as "unknown".
