How long does it take for asset cases to be discharged and closed?

I am an asset case (tax return). Do asset cases get discharged in 61 days like non-asset? Also how long to close? Creditors have mid July to file proof of claim when my 61st day was today.

Discharge should happen around the same time as with any other non-asset case. However, expect it not to close for 12 - 18 months.

We are an asset case due to a tax return and a preferential payment our trustee went after. We filed in October of 2006, dicharged in Febuary of 2006, and our trustee put in her final report of distrubution last month. So we should close any day now.

Don't worry about how long creditors have to file proof of claim. Our didn't even start recieving proof of claims until after we were discharged.

For all intents and purposes your life can continue as normal after your discharge. Realistically closing is just a matter of paperwork and that is all on the trustee's end. There is really nothing you should need to do after you are discharged.
