Try freecreditreport.com, annualcreditreport.com - but be warned - they're not really free. You will have to give them a credit card number, and they'll charge you $1 for the first month, but you can cancel them after 30 days. Another warning - if you don't they'll charge you for a monthly monitoring service - anywhere from $9 to $15 a month.

This is the correct site for your free annual credit reports. They are free as long as you don't sign up for any of their programs. You do not have to cancel anything.

      https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp

It's not a matter of which CR is "best". Which CR you are reported to is the choice of your creditors. You need all three reports to be sure you see everything. You can also dispute any inaccuracies with each CR, and they will respond with a new free CR within 30 days or less.

        I used annualcreditreport.com...didn't pay a penny
        I used truecreditreport.com...didnt pay a penny

Both were free for the time I used them. My account was never charged $1.

Both are free for the stated time period.

Question: when they say "one free credit report per year" do they mean a year from Jan to Dec or 12 months after the last one?
I got my free one sometime around last July or Aug. So do I have to wait til 12 months after that before getting another free one?

If it is every 12 months instead of Jan - Dec, then which is the cheapest/best deal for me to buy my credit reports? I want to start cleaning up my credit reports post-discharge.

Pakettle, they start the date by when you order your first reports. So say you order your reports today, it will be one year from today that you can order free ones from them again.

Hope this isn't hijacking, but does annualcreditreport.com or truecreditreport.com give you credit scores as well as your credit report for a reasonable monthly fee? And are their credit scores off by much when compared to myFICO.com?? (sorry again if this is hijacking, but I was just curious)

Fees vary, about 10 bucks each for a FICO score, one time, during the use of the free annual credit report.
