credit scores vary with 3 agencies?

guys, i figured i should post in a separate thread.
well, now it is about credit scores. since chapt 7 got discharged in feb this year i figured its about time i review my credit.

    transunion 614
    equifax 582
    experien 584

some parts i submitted disputes to fix errors reported by others. e.g amex that got closed with bal. 0 (paid in full by me) reported as 'delinquency/open' yet other report says 'closed', etc.

are they supposed to be the same?

is 614 low? what is considered good/average?

    1. Yes, 614 is still low and is below what you need to get market rate prime loans (680+)

    2. The scoring differences usually have to do with different information contained in the reports (not all creditors report to all 3 CRA's), and to some degree how each agency reports the data and "when" data is updated.

Suze Ormann said 680 is no longer the magic number, to get the best rates you need 720.

I haven't filed yet and you can see my scores below. I don't know how accurate it is but the service I use to get my scores lets me do a "what if" analysis. If the analysis is true, my scores should go UP slightly after I file.
Discharged November 2008 100 days after filing no-asset Chapter 7. We intended to let a two-year-old vehicle go back to the bank and reaffirm an inexpensive ten-year-old SUV and our home mortgage. In the end we surrendered ALL of our vehicles and reaffirmed NOTHING. We'll "ride through" our mortgage after the court ruled it an undue hardship.

I've been using Identity Guard Credit Protect X3 that's available to Costco members for $9.49 a month or Executive Members for $7.49 per month.

I pay $7.49 twice for me and my wife because we have an Executive Membership. We recently started filling our prescriptions at Costco and we buy plenty of groceries there so the 2% rebate for Executive Members actually makes our membership cost less than the basic one. (If you average more than $209 a month you come out ahead with the Executive membership. Beyond $417 a month the membership becomes free.)

The same service isn't available through the Identity Guard website. They've got something similar that costs more but they only let you pull a credit report quarterly instead of monthly at Costco.

All my finance friends tell me that you have to have 700's to get approved for anything.

And my scores were never the same on all 3, but all were in the 700s.

Not trying to argue, but I had a 678 (and also current on everything) at the point when I financed through Ford Motor Credit last year and was able to get the promotional financing on top of the rebates, etc. However, that may have all changed since the economy completely tanked.

I am talking about now, not last year. I had high 700's last year and was able to get anything I wanted.

One thing we have found out since discharge in 8/06 is that a lot of times it doesn't really matter what your scores are, that BK on your records can stop various lenders cold and they just will not extend credit due to the BK filing. Some lenders are known for never extending credit again to a former debtor discharging them in BK - Chase is one of them.

                          Navy Federal is another one.

Many places want some years in between BK and giving you credit.
