I'll try to make this short story..
I took my 1991 Buick in a shop because it had bad trans to be fixed. I decided I was going to reaffirm that car as I only owed about 3.5k on it. 2 weeks later shop mechanic called me told me engine blew up and I needed a new motor. I already paid him for trans service (got discount, payed only for parts). At that point I decided that I was not going to reaffirm the car as it's not worth to me.
I called my bank to tell them that I was not going to reaffirm the car (my lawyer also sent them letter). I informed the bankruptcy department of situation, that the car is not drivable and that I do not wish to reaffirm it. They questioned my decision because they saw that I already made payment on it a month ago (why all of a sudden change?). I told them they can come pick the car up which is at mechanic shop. The guy that I spoke to said that it's not "worth" for them to pick it up and that they will not release the title. He didn't sound too happy about the whole situation. My question is, what am I supposed to do with the car ? I can't donate it when I don't have the title. I can't keep it on the parking lot. They won't come and pick the car up nor release title. My attorney advised me to visit local PD and ask them what legal steps can I take about this situation. Does anyone here have any insights, info on this matter, anything that could be helpful ?
Thank you for long read..
