Needing major help in Fla.

i arranged another consult next week. I would have called for a 3rd, but a lawyer i know is a trustee. Daisy, how right you are. I feel so rich b/c i'm not playing the "crossing checks in mail" game.

w/out monstrous cc payments, i might be able to pay my entire rent to my brother-in-law, who has been too patient. i owe him so much. (personal category, from what i've read)

i also wondered if a creditor could just go into my checking acct and take what's due. not that much is there.. to me, it's a ton. I know it's not gonna happen... but paranoia creeps in!

AmyJ, most creditors can only do that if they win a judgement against you first. At some point, you would be notified of the lawsuit or judgement if they have your correct contact information.

However, credit unions are horrible about doing "cross-collateralization": in other words, if you owe a credit union money for a car, a credit card, what have you, and you have your checking and saving acct there as well, YES, they can and will dip into it if at all possible, without warning to you.

So, the moral of this post is: unless you are being sued OR have outstanding debts at the same credit union where you do your regular banking, you have little to worry about.

Daisy, i dealt w/ credit union. I hear ya! Thanks for the great advice! I'm consulting w/ lawyers, but have learned more here & from reading. In many ways i would rather go it alone. The lawyers i've talked to were rushed & abrupt, the paralegals the same. And as hard as I've tried, i do NOT have receipts for every little thing 4 the past few yrs of my life! (i know this is not necessary, lawyers here demand it all.) I can try to satisfy them or i can start living again. I have two more consults & then .. who knows?
