Pacer "Cannot find case" -- Wrong case number, or I'm asking too quickly?

My attorney filed my Chapter 7 today electronically through PACER while I was there, and gave me a case number in the format 08-#####, where each "#" is a number. It's definately filed, not pending, because I have a case number issued by the bankruptcy court.

When I try looking up the case number in PACER, it says "Cannot find case 08-#####".

Is PACER not that quick? Can it not show documents filed only two hours ago? Do I need to be more patient?!?!?!?!!? <lol>

Or, do I have an "abbreviated" case number, and need a "fuller" case number or something from my attorney to be able to look it up in PACER?

I'm 110% positive I'm using the right district.

Do yourself a favor. Check everything I say with a bankruptcy attorney. Most attorneys will even provide a free initial consultation. In fact, it's your life, so check everything anyone says (including your attorney) for yourself!

    I'd give it a day.

My BK was filed on a Friday night late and I was able to pull my case up on Monday using the 08-##### format. You are using the right format.

I couldn't try it over the weekend b/c I didn't have my password at home with me so I can't say how fast it really is but I would think it'll be there tomorrow.
    Filed C7: 3/21/08
    341 Meeting: 4/23/08
    Objections to discharge due: 6/23/08
    Discharged 6/30/08

As Teddy said, try it again tomorrow. You have the right format and number of numbers for a bankruptcy case number.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

Or, try pulling it up using your SS number.

            Thanks for everyone's replies.

I found a section of pacer that actually shows the date ranges that are listed, for each individual court. My district is only online through 03/30/2008, so you are all right that I should try tomorrow.

I don't get why documents filed electronically through a website aren't instantly available. Oh well, not how I would have written it. The Alabama Middle District Court CM/ECF (Criminal) is only available online through 03/17/2008! Wow...
