    About to file C7.

    Hello, BK_ Seniors.
I'm ready to joint "Club of Chapter 7". Hope, with your help I will make it with minimum fractures and dislocations))).
My story: I'm in US about 3 years, refugee cose of political issue. Unfortunately, banks sent hundreds offers to me and my wife. Cards with credit limits 2000 and higher I'm not a big spender but before, I always had a deal with cash, when you can see how much left in your wallet. Credit Cards in my country - sign of top-life level. I used to be in a middle - student with part-time job. I didn't have any experience how to manage those little pieces of plastic. I spent all my money and all money from my wife's cards. I didn't pass the test. That time my family helped me. They're paid-off all my bills and next year I worked to pay my parents back. Sure, my credit scores went up and banks sent me more offers. My wife accepted just one visa and one AMEX. I accepted everything. I have 3 AMEX, 4 Master Cards, 7 Visa. I filled it in with the balances. No, I never shoped in NYC top stores, I never paid for vacations on tropical islands. Money just flied from me to some stupid stuff. Grocery, jeans, coffee-shop on my job etc. I have a debts around $20000. I have a stable job with not a great pay but excellent benefits.
    So:
    Disposition:
    1) 14 credit cards opened on my name with the balances around $20000.
    2) My wife never co-signed for those cards, but some of them have additional card with her name(I never gave her SSN ot other information besides her name). Additional cards with her name wasn't used.
    3) My income: 34000.
    4) Her income: 26000.
    5) We don't have any tax-return. We paid back 1000 dollars to IRS for 2007.
    6) We renting apartment for 920 a month.
    7) My wife don't want to file bk cose she don't have any balances on her cards and have good payment history.
    8) We have a car, but car registered on my sister - insurance cheaper.
    9) We don't have any an expensive goods.
    Question:
    1) Is it going to be a problem cose of additional cards(not co-sign) was issued on to my wife.
    2) Is my wife's credit score going to be affected if I will file?
    3) I called a lawyer yesterday, his price for filling is $1600. Anybody know what the good price for filing in NJ?
Best Regards and Thank You in Advance for help.
    Sorry for my English.
    Lisasha.
P.S. Feel realy sucks. My hair becoming gray(((. Never-ever more credit cards for me!!! Cash and debit.

Hey Lisasha, I can't say for sure but it does sound as though you will be better off filing by yourself as opposed to a joint filing with your wife, if she's not listed on your debts and her own credit is good. But you will have to include her income in your filing, insofar as she contributes to the household expenses.

You know, many bk attorneys offer free consultations. I think you should go see 2 or 3 different ones and run this past them. That way you get to see what they say and also see if you're getting a good price in your area, and all for free. Just because you visit and take the free consult doesn't mean you have to sign up with that one, so go see a *few* before you decide.

Best wishes to you! Good luck to you and your wife!!!
Nolo Press book on filing Chapter 7, there are others too. (I have no affiliation with Nolo Press; just a happy customer.) Best wishes to you!
