why not just get a different car if you are that far upside down?

But for your question; we are reaffirming 2 cars, one that is about even on value vs. what we owe; the other we have about 3K equity.

I'm interested to see what people say about this one!

Only because of depreciation. I have had my car for a little over a year. The resale is low on it and the payment is high with a higher rate. The reason i dont want to get a different car is because it's a dream car of mine and would hate to see another part of me go to the wayside, if you get my meaning. I still plan on keeping it no matter what. I was just seeing if thats something that could be achieved in the BK before re-affirming it.

        Not us.

Both our reaff agreements came through with exactly the same remaining term, balance, payment and interest rate.

Just remember that if you reaffirm and you fall through on the agreement, you WILL be responsible for the difference between what they sell the car for at auction and what you owed.

I think I'd let the dream car go for now if I was that upside down in it!

Then why are you reaffing ? I didn't think that was advisable for the reason you mention.

But did you try to get a better deal through negotiating? or did you just accept it and move on? I read a post earlier that some one cut his rate in half. So i was wondering how effective it would be to try to re-negotiate and maybe instead of them taking the loss, they maybe will to work with you?

You have a valid point though. Maybe best to cut all the loss's and start out fresh and then down the road (Pun intended), I will be in a better position financially.

            Thanks for the input......

We chose not to reaffirm either of our cars.

We are doing a ride through on one and letting the other go...

Oops, I made a bad assumption.
