If one converts from 13 to 7 what happens to the money paid in? We filed 13 in December but we don't think we will be able to continue with it. We are still not confirmed either. So there is about $800.00 sitting in the trustee account.

I just converted from 13 to 7 after making payments for 7 months. I finally couldn't afford to make them and had to find another attorney who got me converted to 7. Unfortunately, I won't get any of the $7,500 I paid to the trustee back. Once you pay it, that's it - you don't get anything back. Luckily, you are converting fairly early so you won't have to pay that much into the 13. Good luck!Filed: January 26th

I converted from 13 to a 7 and my plan wasn't confirmed either, I paid just about as much as you did and got my money back from the Trustee of course he took his cut (like 75 bucks) but I got the rest back. I even paid into the month that I converted (just to play it safe). Maybe its different in certain states. Do you have a lawyer? (I called the Trustee's office and spoke w/his assistant I was assigned to and she said, don't send anymore money we got your conversion papers! When I converted, my lawyer didn't charge me any extra to convert either.
