Do you have to use the pre-discharge course site the attorney tells me to?

In his letter he sent me it says....

You need to do this course online at the same website www.cccsatl.org and take the PRE DISCHARGE course.
I got another offer from a site in the mail that has the course for $15. I really don't want to drop another $50 for this. I think I've spent enough to get my case filed.

Did he give you a code for the course? My online course was included in my fees...

nope. no code. just told me to go to the same site and take the course. i already paid $50 for the pre-filing course. i find it ironic that you file chapter 7 because you can't pay for anything but then they turn around and make you pay for these silly online courses.

        I agree, how stupid!

Just make sure your course is approved by your state. I see you're in my state but I'm in N. Indiana.

I don't think it should matter which course you take as long as it's approved, but I'm not that far yet so I can't say for sure. I was mainly chiming in to say it's dumb to have to pay!

Nope, Teddy, you're right. RealDeal can take whatever course he likes as long as it's on the approved list for his district. But Real, be sure you haven't already been billed for this by the attorney. If you haven't, and you're paying out of pocket no matter what, shoot yeah take the cheapest one! Good luck!!!

Nolo Press book on filing Chapter 7, there are others too. (I have no affiliation with Nolo Press; just a happy customer.) Best wishes to you!

Careful - this is the link to the PRE-FILING approved courses.

The OP needs the link to the PRE-DISCHARGE debtor education/financial management approved courses - here it is - http://www.usdoj.gov/ust/eo/bapcpa/ccde/de_approved.htm

The same company's courses are not always on both lists.

You do not have to take the course your attorney recommends.
If I were you I'd give him a courtesy call to ask if it's okay if you take another one, and to make sure you haven't already been charged for it. If he objects you can say why you want to take the cheaper one and that you've heard it does not matter which one you take. I doubt he will object.

FINALLY DISCHARGED 92 DAYS AFTER THE 341! A NEW START!!!
