Sometimes I wish I had reaffirmed because not reaffirming, frankly, is a pain in the butt, thus far.
Okay, so I made a payment by check last week. This is a problem because I am always skeptical about the check not getting there or their just SAYING the check didn't get there on time, or it gets there but gets mis-filed or whatever...
Anyway, I sent my payment, and here it is a week later and still it has not posted to my bank account, so I am worried that for whatever reason they did not get it.
So I want to call them and ask if they got the check or not. I also want to find out HOW late the payment can be before they'd come after the car.
So I call up their 800# and while most clients are allowed to hear their payment info by phone (like when the payment was posted or when it's due), I get a message that says:
You must speak to a representative.
Why? Why must I speak to a representative, just to find out if my payment was made or not?? Is it because they want to talk me into reaffirming?
So I hung up.
Is there any danger in speaking to a representative at this point? I don't want to reaffirm (I guess) (not even sure I could after my 60 days are up).
All I want to ask is "Did you get my payment?" and "How late can I pay before the payment is considered past due?" And "Would you now send me paper bills again, since my 60 day wait is over?"
Also, I set up my bank account for an automatic payment to them, and I sent them a "test" payment of $1 in addition to sending the check by mail. But even though my payment account shows that the money was sent, my bank balance still does not show the $1 was deducted from my account, even though I made the electronic payment from my bank one week ago. What's up with that?
