My costs were:
$299 Filing Fees (paid in 3 installments, $75, $75, and $149)
$100 Pre and post filing classes (There are cheaper, but I used cccs for convenience)
This was $50 pre and $50 post.
$30 Ink and paper......I was a perfectionist, so I used a ton of both!!!
Grand Total: $429
and, can't resist...... "Being discharged of all of my past mistakes: PRICELESS!!!"CH 7 File Date 11/09/2007
Discharged 2/22/2008
Closed 2/25/2008

Hrm, mine is pro se, so assuming I get discharged without further drama, my costs are:
Filing fee: $299
PACER acct: maybe $20
Books and supplies (paper, postage, etc.): probably $70 or $80
Time: priceless
So total in cash, probably around $400. But if you add all the time I have had my nose in all things bk since last November, you're looking at literally hundreds of hours, not to mention all the moments spent sweating the details.Oh, and I forgot to mention: I was able to offer proof of disability and no income to the bk education provider, so I got both halves free. I also already had a copy of Adobe Professional 5 (old but good) and I downloaded the forms from uscourts.gov and entered everything on the forms in text boxes in Adobe: huge pain in the keister, but also free (at least in $$$). I also had Word, and used that to do any other doc (like when I broke out my household goods on Schedule B & C, and when I did a Proof of Service by Mail to the trustee).
Hope this helps!Last edited by FreshLikeADaisy; 03-05-2008, 03:05 PM.Nolo Press book on filing Chapter 7, there are others too. (I have no affiliation with Nolo Press; just a happy customer.) Best wishes to you!

Tofu, yes on both counts. You have to pay the atty in full up front in a Ch7 because all your debts (including your debt to him) are discharged in the bk. The filing fee is due at the time the actual case is filed, though you can petition the court to pay in installments if you really need to. But even then the total amount is due before the bk can be discharged. Hope this helps.Nolo Press book on filing Chapter 7, there are others too. Thanks in advance.
The Attorneys fee was $1,200 (includes 200 retainer)
$299.00 filing fee
$30.00 credit report
Total $1,529.00 (US) due prior to filing. I actually think it is quite inexpensive for what I am getting.
I'm not sure if the debtor education is included. Not all those who wander are lost....
