Can I pay someone I owe money to via CC?

I think I understand where the OP is coming from.

He/she owes money to a small business which is probably struggling, maybe the owner is someone that she knows well... so, why not have "big bad bank" pay for that? They are going to get bailed out anyway!

Hmm... I read the OP a little differently... sounds to me like they owe "someone" money (friend?) who coincidentally is self employed and set up to accept cc's. I could be wrong... Idk about the BK angle on this, (I tend to agree to the fraudulant charge opinion) but I do know that it's against the merchant services agreement to use their cc processing for anything other than purchases related directly to that business.

Thats what I was thinking. The problem i have with this is that if you know you are going to file BK and you use the card you are commiting fraud. Even if you pay a few months, you still knew that you were going to file. Its like abusing the system.

I would work out a payment plan with them if it's important to you that you pay the debt. That way you are in no way commiting fraud.
