Depends what you're looking for. I got a PACER acct about a month before I filed and was using it to research other cases because I was going pro se. If you have an atty and that's not your purpose, then you would check it just after you file (your atty will have a case # for you as soon as the case is filed), maybe once a week if there are no known issues just to keep track of the activity, and then just before your 341. After 341, every week or two until discharge. You may find that more frequent checks are better for your situation, but there is a tendency to go overboard and check it every hour once something gets posted, yet in reality that tends to be, uh... counterproductive. Good luck!!!!Nolo Press book on filing Chapter 7, there are others too. (I have no affiliation with Nolo Press; just a happy customer.) Best wishes to you!

It should show up immediately I think, or at least within 24 hours.
Are you sure you're looking in the right district?
I know in our case there were about 5 districts of my state and one of them sounded like it was the right one, but was not, so at first I was barking up the wrong tree and wondering why it wasn't there!
Otherwise I'd think it should be there. When we filed our post-341 counseling papers (through our attorney), they showed up the next day.<<I am NOT an attorney, my comments are anecdotal only. Contact an attorney for advice>>
FINALLY DISCHARGED 92 DAYS AFTER THE 341! A NEW START!!!

I signed up for the immediate log in of Pacer on Thursday. It allowed me to log in once but on Friday I tried and it said my log in was in correct. Thinking maybe I wrote my info down incorrect, I requested my password and tried again, still can't log in. Has anyone else had this problem? I verified my user name and password but still can't log in........ugggggh

Cali, sorry, I haven't been on in a day or so...
Anyway, the way I went about it was to find out what local rag publishes bankruptcies in my area (try googling "bankruptcy notice publish boston" or whatever your town is, without the quotes). These notices give you the name, case #, atty name (or pro se) and filer's name. That's all you need to go in and see what is being filed around you. You can also go to your district's website and look at "Judge's Decisions" for Chapter 7 references, and if you see something interesting, look up the case.
See if your courthouse has free PACER access, because then you can search on attorney names and all sorts of things to your hearts content. At home, you want to avoid huge searches because the cost can really add up, but if it's free...! Before I went, I had already picked out a couple of local attys that were participating in blogs and writing articles and trying test cases (indications of good lawyers) and searched their cases for samples I could use. I also looked up a few that I knew were bk mills, just to see the differences.
Hope this helps!
P.S. *laugh* Good one, Coma!!!!Nolo Press book on filing Chapter 7, there are others too. (I have no affiliation with Nolo Press; just a happy customer.) Best wishes to you!

Monkatom, I personally don't look at anything but the Docket, because everything that gets filed is listed and can be accessed from there. The rest you know from your filing itself, but are split out for quick reference, I assume. But when you first log in and open your case, at the top it should tell you the date of last activity: if that hasn't changed since your last visit, you don't need to look at anything at all, because nothing has changed since the last time you looked. If you keep to that rule your charges will be minimal. Good luck!!!Nolo Press book on filing Chapter 7, there are others too. (I have no affiliation with Nolo Press; just a happy customer.)
