I was bamboozled when I bought my 2nd car, I think, and paid higher blue book value than I should have. My lawyer just told me there was no way the trustee would all owe me to re-affirm the car. Although I love the car, I understand the situation. It was a 6000.00 car and I am paying 11,000.00 for it. I am no good at buying car, apparently.
As strange as it might seem, I can also chose to live without a car. I live in a city (downtown/ midtown area) and on a bus route that goes right by my work, as well as to many other places where I can get a job. I plan to move to an area where buses run as well. I was just thinking, I could save something like 350 to 400 per month in car payments, gas, auto insurance, as well as repairs I have not listed. I might also get a little motorcycle. Not all those who wander are lost....

I hate being the one that has to tell people everyday that are in the same situation as me that they cant get what they want. Not a day goes by I dont feel bad for people who's credit app's come accross my desk that we just cant help out. I think there are alot of people that give those unreal expectations that everything will be cheap again. I dont want everything to be cheap again, I want to remeber what this is like so I dont come here again. Well maybe a little cheaper !!!!!! I want to be debt free and remember what it is like to have C A S H $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

We are choosing to reaffirm our Tahoe. It's a 2005 and we ended up using the HELOC to pay it completely off. When we found ourselves in a financial crunch, we took out a loan for $10k against the Tahoe and that's what we are paying. The value of the Tahoe is $20k and the loan at time of filling was for $8900. So, the value is $11,100 and using the $3300 vehicle exemption brings us to $7800. Our payments are only $189/mo. and we can afford that (even after the BK). We are surrendering our home and using the "homestead exemption" towards our Tahoe and 1996 P/U truck. I need RELIABLE means of transportation and couldn't think of having the trustee seize it and getting a much older junker to transport my 2 young kids around in. Getting stranded, on the side of the freeway, at night, with 2 kids was not my idea of a "fresh start". Sounds selfish but it is one of the items that I wanted exempt...the trustee could take the P/U for all I care (it can only fit one kid).
For TTAWORK, good luck on your decision. Cat pee is a mess to get out! I'm still working on getting spilled milk from out of our Tahoe.CHAPTER 7 FILED: 1/18/2008: 341: 2/19/2008
