    Wow they work fast, lol

I stopped paying our dischargeable debt in January. I just checked my Chase acct and my min payment is $1K and my interest rate is 30%, AND they put me over my credit limit with all the fees. LOL. How do they expect people to catch up when they do that after only ONE missed payment? Good thing I'm not planning on catching up, huh? Geez.

I don't mean to laugh, I know it's not funny, but good heavens. I see now how people can get behind so quickly.

We are right there with you. I hate to say it but it has almost become a form of entertainment when the statements come in the mail. Knowing we are filing soon allows us to be amazed at how high the fees are climbing instead of panicked about it. I guess you have to find some humor in the situation!

Eight months ago, we tried to work on a "modification" of all our cc terms. They would not even lift a finger for us. Now we are getting several "re-aging" offers from the banks to lower our interest, give us 6 months interest free, etc. What a joke!

how much they can raise APR and min. payments? Is there a limit? at the time of filing or filling out the paper work, should I use the last statement as balance? I am not gonna call THEM to ask my balance and new balance would not update in the credit report that quick. Whats your inputs on that? Do i need the exact balance right to the penny, or just the old credit limit? my balance is growing so fast with all the fees... HELP

You don't need the exact balance for any of your creditors..

i agree, you just need the last known balance and they can get the exact amount when it's needed for discharge.

Could it be that they charge so many fees and interest for a bigger write off?

Yeah. All my CCs did that when we quit paying.
                  Jacked the interest rate up.
Dropped the credit line down to what we owed.
Tacked on a late fee, which then triggered an over the limit fee.
                  7/01/10 - filed!
                  11/20/10 - discharged and closed

oh yah. I have seen this here before. The over the limit fee, the late payment fee, the default fee, the lick me fee, the screw you fee, the take it in the nose fee, the we will kill you fee, the we need our dollar fee....the you went one penny over fee & interest on that penny will cost you $99 and 97 cents (that has happened).

funny how they are so friendly & so full of love & joy when they first write you & then when you go over by one dollar they are ready to take you to the gas chamber mixed with a crucifixion & laughing as they go.

                    eee gads!

It's like at that point with all the fee's, they are just taunting you to file.......

They are probably betting that alot will try to pay it.

Many of mine went up to 36%, which USED to be illegal. Apparently not any more.
ejny65, you don't need the exact amount, just the amount on the latest bill you have is fine. They will rise so fast every month after you stop paying, it's a joke!
Just file the bills away in case you need them - until you're discharged. But you don't need to worry about it - you won't be paying them, hopefully!

I paid Chase faithfully for 10 years, and the first time I was ONE DAY Late, they jacked up my interest to double what it was and charged me some $72 in fees! Eff them!

This is one of the very reasons that I decided to file BK this happaned to me as well and I knew there was NO way I would ever be able to make the Minimum.

I was never late with any payments and my interest rate went up on most of my CC's.
