As of today I'm officially passed due on my c.c's

Amex and Citi were due yesterday.

I wish so much I could pick up the phone and just pay them.

    It's breaking my heart.

I'm filing BK at the end of this month, but for some reason being passed due this morning is harder to take than the idea of Bk7 itself.

Well, things can only go up from here.

It hurt for me too. We had perfect credit for over 10 years and now its in the toilet. We paid our last payments around July 2007. The good news is that you won't be so late when you file for BK and none of them will be charged off yet so it will be much easier to rebuild your credit.

Yeah, after 40 years of excellent credit, it was hard NOT TO PAY A BILL.........before filing.....

But bankruptcy is a business decision, and look at it in that respect and you will be fine.

Its not like years ago you planned on filing bankruptcy this year..... THINGS HAPPEN, LIFE HAPPENS.......

I'm thankful that bankruptcy still exists, where it can be used by folks like us......

And yes there is "light at the end of the tunnel"......

After 40 years of excellent credit, filing bankruptcy NEVER even hurt my credit (if so very little)......

Since filing I have purchased a home, etc..... at an excellent interest rate, and have any kind of credit at my disposal if I need it.....

Your credit report will suffer for about a year to two years and then you'll be fine as long as you maintain good paying habits on all your bills.

I know, I know, you were taught to pay your debts...... I was too.... but things happen.... that changes our lives and our way of thinking....

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.

This is the hardest for me as well. I never missed a payment until now.

Yep, that is so true. We had certain unforseen life events that precipitated my filing.

I'm already feeling better. It was harder this morning than it is now, I guess Ive gotten used to it.

When you've paid on time for so long, it's part of who you are, ya know? But things happen that are out of our control and that is what happened to me.

Hopefully when I file on the 29th the collection calls won't have begun yet.

I know exactly how everyone feels. I am officially 2 months behind on credit cards and it is truly breaking my heart. I've always paid on time or a little extra and now I feel like a bum because I'm screening my calls and avoiding creditors, but it is a necessary evil if I am to be able to afford to pay the atty. I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling bad about watching my credit go bad like this.

There is one major positive about your situation- since you are filing so soon you won't have any collections issues for the most part. We did the same thing and only got two months behind, so we were lucky that nothing got sent to debt collectors and we only had about 5 credit cards so there werent' too many different phone calls.
