Why not showing up on PACER system?

I was at my attorney's office on 1/22/08 when we filed Ch 7 and then received my PACER username/password several days later. I did query the proper court, but no results with my Last Name or SSN #. Makes me think the filing was messed up -- maybe just a delay because the court has not assigned a Case #? Called my attorney today to explain, but no response. I don't want to freak out on every little thing, but I've never been down this road before. Any thoughts on how long it takes once you file to when it shows on PACER? I thought it would have been within 24 hrs or something.

    Thanks,

Did he mail it in? Maybe it'll show up tomorrow since it may have been entered today after the weekend.

I thought it was e-file from his office. I guess I'll have to wait until he gets back to me. I hate waiting for lawyers to return calls!

We filed in his office 1/18 and just received the paperwork in the mail. He e-filed on 1/22. Signed up for PACER on my own; received the password on 1/24 and found our case number on PACER. Give it a couple days.

Getouttadebt, a case number is assigned as soon as your filing gets entered into the system; since attorneys all file electronically this would have happened the day you say it was filed. If you call the atty's office they should have a case # for you to look up. Now, it may be that you signed the paperwork on 1/22, but the case itself has not actually been filed. Big, big difference. But if the atty can give you a case #, you can be assured that your case has been filed.

Note that if they give you a case number that looks like 4:08-bk-12345-TBA, the only part of it you would enter into PACER would be 08-12345. Good luck!!!
Nolo Press book on filing Chapter 7, there are others too. (I have no affiliation with Nolo Press; just a happy customer.) Best wishes to you!

Thanks to everyone for their responses to my post here. It is now showing up in PACER. I thought the attorney was e-filing on the day we were there (1/22), but in fact it did not happen until 1/28 and I found it on PACER today.

I will keep everyone posted on the progress -- looks like 3/5/08 for the 341 meeting.
