Finally I can type this to you all. We FILED!

Many of you read a month or so back about my previous attorney making us feel like crap - belittling me in front of my wife. Long story short - I paid them in full October 07 and by mid December they said it takes 90 days to file and if I call them back they will raise their charges. Well, since then I fired them and found a new attorney and I must say:

    WE HAVE OFFICIALLY FILED!!!
Checked Pacer to make sure. Now I know this is one of many baby steps until discharge but hey, knowing what I went through this is a milestone for us
    Filed: 01/23/08
    341 Meeting: 02/29/08
    Discharged: 04/30/08
    Closed: 05/12/08

        Gopher: YAAAAAAAY!!!!!

Lefty: If you filed through an attorney, yes, you should see it by now because all attys are required to file electronically anymore. Technically, you should have been able to see it within minutes of the actual electronic filing. However, make sure you're putting your case number in right: if you received a case number that looks something like 3:08-bk-01234-TBA, you have to strip that down to 08-01234. The bk means "bankruptcy", the TBA is either the initials of the judge you've been assigned OR "to be announced", not sure what the initial 3 is. But what's left is the seven digit case number you need for PACER.

You may already know this; my apologies if you're already doing it right. I throw it in only because I had a little problem with it myself....
Nolo Press book on filing Chapter 7, there are others too. (I have no affiliation with Nolo Press; just a happy customer.) Best wishes to you!
