Well, you can't get an account on your ex. The way it works is, you sign up for an account, then you can look up anyone you want to. If I knew your ex's name, I could look them up. Kicker is, there is an 8 cent per page charge to look at someone's records.

you do need to know what district to look in.

I already had a PACER account and decided to type in a few relatives names. I found two aunts and one cousin and that was only in my district. I know of two more uncles but their filings may have been too old. I know they were in the same district. Imagine if I looked in other districts.

Yes, but the big question is... Does the person(s) that you may be worried about finding out even know to look and see if you filed? Most people probably don't think to find out if you filed and if they do, probably have no clue that pacer is available to them.

I don't understand why people are so worried about it. I could care less if anyone finds out I filed.

I'm with you on that, rilbrianne. I could care less at this point. Of course, my case is closed and the whole episode gets dimmer and dimmer in the past. And the more time goes on, I get more proud than anything else. Proud that I had a BIG problem in my life, I faced that problem and found a solution, and now I'm moving forward. So to anyone who wants to know about my BK, I would feel like telling them, "Yeh, I did it. Best thing I ever did for myself. Now I'm debt-free and ECSTATIC!"

AMEN! When I was contemplating a divorce, I was so concerned about what people would think that I stayed in a bad situation a lot longer than I should have. At the end of the day, I did what I needed to do, made a hard decision and moved on with my life. Now, I have a wonderful husband and beautiful baby girl. In 5 months, I'll have my second beautiful baby! Who cares what people think?!?! It's YOUR life!

I really did not care if anybody knew I filed either. Come to think of it, I started checking ex boyfriends for fun and irritating supervisors when I wasn,t busy at work. It was kind of funny actually to find that all of these folks who walk around acting like they are better than you had actually filed bankruptcy themselves. No....this will never be a topic of conversation. Lets just say it made me feel better to check on Pacer since it was already public knowledge, but I never said anything about their business. Since I have been discharged and closed, I only talk with you guys...I never go on Pacer anymore cause it cost when you do.
