    Officially filed

    Well, we officially filed our Ch 7 today.

    As soon as we get our case number (which I'm hoping she will have before 5 pm), we are going to do the Dave Ramsey Debtor Education for Bankruptcy course.

    Our lawyer didn't think we had anything to be concerned about, so now we wait for our 341, which will probably be early February.

    Thanks everyone for their help with my questions!

    Erinmi, do you have a PACER account? If so, and your atty filed electronically, it's already online and you can see it for yourself, case number and all. (If you file paper it can take a few days.) Check out the PACER stickies if you haven't already -- it's a very cool and cheap (8 cents a page) way to keep track of what is actually getting filed and when. Most of the time, you just look up your case (free if you don't click on anything) and see what the last filing date is; if it hasn't changed since the last time you looked then there's nothing new. An added bonus is that if you charge less than $10 a year you never even get billed (though chances are that you will exceed this; so far I'm up to about $16).

    I did my post-filing counseling as soon as I had a case # too. Good luck to you!!!

      I do have a pacer account already

      They were supposed to file electronically. I will go and check it out. I wasn't sure how long it takes to post to the system.

        Good luck, erinmi! Aren't you glad that part is over. Trust me (as my attorney told me many times)...the WORST is over for you, I bet, if yours is a pretty cut and dried case. The time leading up to the BK, and the paperwork needed in the filing is the pain in the butt. After that it's smooth sailing, and the best is yet to come. Congrats to you!

          We filed in West Michigan also and our PACER info was up there the day after our attorney filed electronically.

            Ours was actually there today. I was surprised at how fast it gets on there.

            I hope our meeting will go as well as yours did, though I'm hoping we won't have to bring our 3 year old daughter!
