I would just file and get it over with. It's like a gambling debt which can be discharged....

Wait as long as you possibly can before filing and you will have a better chance of it going without incident. Even waiting a year since that last charge would be ideal... Just my 2 cents, most of my cc debt was from cash advances (due to gambling) and I would be making steady payments, sometimes having them all paid off and racking them right back up again. I filed in July of last year, my biggest cash advance was March or April ($10,000) so your looking at 4-5 months before I filed. I acquired a new credit card of $10,000 and transferred the whole balance to another cc (the transfer is considered a cash advance btw) only to rack it back up gambling. I really thought this was going to be an issue with the credit unions, but since I filed Ch13 to start (to play it safe) I can only assume the creditors didn't have issues because they knew they were getting their money back through the chapter. 3 months into the plan I converted to ch7. Luck be my way - no objections.
