My search for a good BK attorney!

Not that I am in mood for fun and joke, but it was funny and i wanted to share. I was searching online today for checking out BK lawyers' websites. One of them in first homepage in large font said; Visa, master card accepted!!!!!!!!
I am NOT an attorney, anything I say here is not a legal advice.

well it makes sense. Charge the fees, then wait 90 days to file. LOLOL then discharge them in BK. no money out of pocket.

I don't think there's anything wrong with PayPal, it's a valid payment paying system. But, the credit card idea is pretty funny for a BK filer. I'm assuming this law firm does other business that wouldn't be scrutinized for a cc payment. That's probably what their homepage is referring to.

hee hee. hey, that would be better than taking a cash advance for it. I never even thought of charging it, but I just might do that with the initital fee which is about 500.00. I suppose some people might get away with that while others wont. it seems kind of risky but since I would pay for it anyway, I don't care if I have to pay that fee back after the BK. Seems like it would buy a little time if there is no other way for someone to save before filing.

I bet some attorneys may not accept that as a form of payment though because most of them would say don't make any more charges starting now but then take a charge for their own fee?. ROFL! It is funny, to me!

I bet that was refering to a different service in law because they do different kinds of law & not just one law. (?)

One attorney I interviewd told me he wanted $3000 up front BEFORE he did anything for me. I told him I don't have it right now and he said, "don't borrow it - have someone GIFT it to you". Ummmm. yeah. Whatever.

I would not pick one who demands payment in full just to start the process. I can see a nice downpayment like 1/3 or maybe 1/2 & also expect to pay in full by the filing date but not just to look at the case.

I have a gift for that attorney

I think people are mostly just joking about it, not actually doing it, plus if he took $2000.00 from someone on a charge card to file a BK in 90 days, the trustee could go after him for the money & get it back to give to the other creditors, so I doubt a BK attorney would ever do that.

But I can't help but think that someone has tried it, even if just a very small amount.

I always enjoy your posts immensely, Bandit. You always make me smile and laugh.
Nolo Press book on filing Chapter 7, there are others too. (I have no affiliation with Nolo Press; just a happy customer.) Best wishes to you!

I was thinking, even if I had to pay the lawyer by CC, its not luxury, its sort of like paying an emergency room, or urgent care!

Yeah, I ditched them pronto. Every question was answered with a "I'll have to look into that". They didn't answer any of my questions with a straight reply. I think they were just looking for more cash. I went with another attorney that has been doing bankruptcy in our county for 25 years. It's all he does really. He wanted $500 retainer and the remaining $1500 when we filed.

That is way better. They either know the law or they don't. They have the experience or they don't & they can't hide it.

I was always under the impression that attorneys are smarter & brighter then average citizens & boy was I wrong. After a few phone calls of, "I'll have to check into that" & "I don't know", really woke me up to a lot of lawyers who must have passed law school with a D- or an F+

Don't they say some very stupid things when you meet them?

The mods here & a lot of the people here are smarter than half of the attorneys I have talked to.
