Does anyone know approximately how long it takes to go from "discharged" to "closed" in the Middle District of Florida?

Ooooh, sweet. I hope it works that way in Jax too.
Nolo Press book on filing Chapter 7, there are others too. (I have no affiliation with Nolo Press; just a happy customer.) Best wishes to you!

Do you have a pacer acct?

If you get a pacer acct, you can look at cases filed and see what your timeline is.

I did this, and our district only has discharges done one day a month on thursdays it looks like, and they aren't done until 4-5 weeks from the objection deadline.

It stinks, but at least I know what to expect.

cassiopia, I'm in Tampa too. We are trying for a CH7 in Tampa and will be filing 2/1/08. We are over by just a little bit ($less than $2,000) on the median income but our expenses to income is off the charts. Any words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated...

tallberry, $2000 doesn't seem so bad, especially with your expenses. Did your attorney tell you he/she didn't see much of a problem? There was a discussion on here just the other day about being over the median.....other than that, I can't offer much as I was below the median.

However!.....I can give you lots of encouragement in the general sense. Once you file, the worst is really over. The 341 should be a piece of cake, and then it's just a short (seems long, but it isn't) wait until discharge/close. At that time you'll feel a huge sense of relief and be on the road to a financial "fresh start." The feeling is INCREDIBLE.

The worst part of the 341 was driving into Tampa, LOL.....I'm up in Pasco so that was a nightmare....all the one-way streets and traffic! The actual 341 was a five-minute, very simple thing. I walked out of the court that day feeling like a ton of weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

My BK is getting further and further behind me now....and every day it just gets better and better. I only wish I had done it at least a year sooner. I was a complete wreck with financial problems for so long. If I ONLY knew then, what I know now.

I wish you the very best of luck, and I'm so glad you found this message board. You'll find a wealth of information and wonderful support.

I actually live in Pasco, too. New Port Richey. I just dropped off my questionaire last week so I won't hear back probably for a week or so. I have only spoken to the attorney once at the initial consultation, always talk to the paralegal after that. She is pretty good so far. Attorney seems pretty good and came recommended but is a bit of a speed talker so he is hard to follow, kind of annoyed me. I'm going to let them plug in my numbers, if they tell me I need to file CH 13, they will need to have a really good reason for that because I have done my homework (thanks to this forum) and am not going to file CH 13 just to line his pocket. I sure hope mine goes as well as yours did..I'm very envious! I drive to Tampa a lot so I am used to the torture!! Thanks again Cassiopeia.
