I am living with a family member now temporarily and will probably file bk in a couple of months. I don't want to get flooded with junk mail due to the bk. Is it ok to file with a postbox address or some kind of temporary address like that?

Use postbox address for bk filing?

We moved right in the middle of filing and did not know what our mailing address would be, so we put our home address at the day of filing, even though we moved 3 days later, and then put my parent's address as our mailing address. This worked out fine and now we are changing our mailing address to a po box. I will let you know that the US trustee sat in on our 341 because of the two addresses, although it was mostly because it was out of state. Everything was absolutely fine though.

I just filed Friday, and you can put both a physical address and a mailing address (like a PO Box) on the voluntary petition (Form 1) so that's what I did. I didn't want my folks to get firehosed with credit applications or, God forbid, my bk gets dismissed and suddenly creditors are calling and mailing them and Lord knows what. So I put a Tracphone # for the phone, and a PO Box for the mailing address. We'll see how it goes. I'm not even in PACER yet so I doubt I have any mail yet.Nolo Press book on filing Chapter 7, there are others too. (I have no affiliation with Nolo Press; just a happy customer.) Best wishes to you!
