    Countrywide Mtg Questions

I have my mtg w/ Countrywide just a first

I'ves heard when you file you chpater 7 you no longer receive statements and you lose online access to your account. Is this true,
    also does Countrywide reaffirm?

Onece the case is discharged do you get statements and online access again?

Never missed a payment to them

We filed on 11/29. So far, I'm able to access Countrywide. It's going to be a pain in the butt if I lose that access. I sure hope we don't. I'll be watching this thread to see what others say.
    11/29/2007 - Filed Ch 7
    01/08/2008 - 341 Hearing
    03/12/2008 - Discharged

We filed Ch 13 - not 7 - but even so our mortgage company cut off our online access. The only way we know what is going on with our mortgage is the monthly "informational statement" our mortgage company mails us.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

      06/01/06 - Filed Ch 13
      06/28/06 - 341 Meeting
      07/18/06 - Confirmation Hearing - not confirmed, 3 objections
10/05/06 - Hearing to resolve 2 trustee objections
01/24/07 - Judge dismisses mortgage company objection
      09/27/07 - Confirmed at last!
06/10/11 - Trustee confirms all payments made
      08/10/11 - DISCHARGED !

      10/02/11 - CASE CLOSED
Countdown: 60 months paid, 0 months to go

they do cut off your online access.

I lost my online access to Countrywide (and to a couple other company's websites) when I filed. I was told by countrywide that I will get my access back after my bankruptcy is discharged. It's a pain in the neck though. I just call them and make a payment every month (it's free to do that).

Yes...you WILL lose the access to make payments online. I will be discharged on the 6th of December and they said I can just call and let them know of the discharge and they will get it bakc up and running. However, for the mean time, it is a PITA.

                I still have access

I just checked online access. We filed in Early Oct. I am able to log in, and looks like I would have been able to make payments. Per our trustee who wanted written payoff statements, when they came... they had a big "included in Bankruptcy" note on them.

We did also get our November statements as well.

I never understood why people get so freaked out over this...it is such a phantom objection.

                  1. Go bank with an instituation that has "Online Bill-Pay" (most banks have that).
                  2. You enter the payment address once, put it on automatic recurring payments.
Bam, your done. You never need another paperstatement nor do you need to log onto the mortgage companies direct website.

What about individual cases? We have Countrywide as well. He gets onto their website and pays that way, since his bank has a bad habit of sending out the checks two days after he does the online bill pay. The only other option is to go to a local Countrywide office and give them the payment there.

Would my case affect his online access? They stopped sending a bill to us months ago when he started getting online to pay them. I suppose I can nag him to start paying by phone. I'm good at that (the nagging that is).
