Keep this in mind as well - the lender can call you and whine about putting your house in forclosure but that doesn't mean much if your sitting on a 6 month redemption. Example that happened to me: Stop making payment August 2005, SHeriff Sale January 2006, Redemption period was 6 months so that means you MUST be out August 2006. So even though you decide to throw in the towel, you still have time - saving $$$ and actually relocating. Some states have different timelines for redemption periods (MN is 6 mo).
