As Amelia pointed out, the main reason is for the debtor to provide certain documentation. And even in that scenario, if the debtor provides the documentation before the 2nd scheduled 341, that 2nd 341 usually gets cancelled.
LOLOL I have had many 341's but only because I filed a chapter 7 in 01, and then in 04, 05 filed a total of 3 chapter 13's. They say the third time is the charm and all is well with this last one.
I've had three. We originally filed on 10/13/05 for CH7, then had to convert, so we had one for our CH13, and we just were able to convert back on 10/15/07, and have our third one on 12/4.
My 341 meeting was continued twice. The first time we had to amend the assets (I had paid 3 $250 payments to Discover in installments on a judgement they had gotten).
Then at the second meeting, which my attorney said I didn't need to attend, the trustee apparently wanted my money order stubs from those payments, so she continued the meeting again. The thing was, I had given her the stubs at the first meeting, so I didn't have them.
The third meeting has come and gone (didn't have to go to this one either), and the trustee just posted that she is ready to submit final report, but I have not been discharged yet.
Keeping my fingers crossed.
Well, at the first 341 meeting, she asked me if I had paid more than $600 to anyone in the last 90 days, and I told her i had made payments on the court judgement to Discover. I probably could have just said no, but I was really nervous, and figured she could find out if I didn't tell the truth.
