    Question about listing storage unit

Hey everyone. I have a question regarding listing a storage unit (or even if I should) in Chapter 7. Basically, I lost my house in foreclosure in June, was evicted in July and left the state, but before I did I was able to get a little 5x5 storage locker to keep my books and a few other tchotchkes in until I can afford to get something to bring them down in, like a U-Haul.

Here's the question: Should I even bother with listing the storage unit itself? I intend to list the contents (meager as they are) but the unit itself, I have no idea. Is it a lease? In addition, I have only ever paid cash in person for it -- happy accident, that -- so it's not as if it would ever show up anywhere. I don't want to mislead the court, but it almost seems as though listing it would bring up further questions (like, "I wonder what she's trying to hide up there?") and I would rather avoid the hassles, being pro se.

I appreciate any comments anyone would have on this -- thanks so much!

List it as an expense.... if you try to hide it - then it's "questionable"........... You don't want the Trustee to "think" your hiding anything by not mentioning it.............

If asked, you belongings are in storage until you can relocate, simple as that....

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.

Works for me! Glad it's not a lease as far as Schedule G is concerned. Thanks!

I just filed with a lawyer, and she had no issues at all with putting storage unit rent in my expenses. If you don't have a house or have a tiny apartment, there isn't much choice. Everything that's in it fell under my exemptions.
