my bank closed my checking acct

alright i had a -225 in the checking acct
i got a letter in the mail from chase bank , it said something like
pay this amt in ten days or we will close ur acct and this will prevent u from opening an acct with other banks.......how am i suppose to save or get a direct deposit pay check money if i cant open a bank acct?

now they closed my acct, i was going to put the -225 when i file bankruptcy... i have like 4 credit cards with chase all late payments
i avoid their phone calls....im thinking about filing bk in december is this too late to file ?

the reason is so i can save money for it

It may not be too late to start a checking account elsewhere, but than again you could be listed on the chex system since this bank barred you from the account. wish you someone could have forewarned you earlier that this would happen. Unfortunately if you owe money on credit cards or loans with the same bank they can and will stop you from using your account and even take your money to pay off your debt on the cc's. Did they know you were going to file (if they did then the creditors/banks will immediately prevent you from accessing your accounts? If they didn't know you were going to file you must have stopped making payments for a lengthy period of time for them to decide to shut you down?

Sometimes it takes awhile for you to show up in ChexSystems, you should try to open another account immediately. Also, some banks open accounts even when you are in ChexSystems (if you google ChexSystems, there is a forum and it lists banks by state that open accounts). I opened an account with Wachovia while in ChexSystems.

You can still list the -225 on your bankruptcy.
