    Credit question......

We are going to file a 7 within the next month or so. We are surrendering the house because it's upside down and to much at this point. Should we set up something to rent before the filing when my credit looks ok or after when it shows the BK?

I would start looking because its hard now of days to rent if your credit isnt that good and you have lates and etc. I found my rental home on craigslist.org.. told the landlord my situation and that was that. She was cool with it because of honesty.. but some apartments will ask for more depsoit and some will just say no.. even though once you file it will take a few months to have to handle secured property and be out.
So let me re answer that with an apartment you can start looking now for availiblity and requirements even if you find the perfect Apartment you can put it on hold with a depsoit . on a privately owned home they want to rent asap so you mite have to look closer to move out. good luck God bless

Better do it before filing. Appartment complexes/their managrment cos. will run a credit report on you when you first apply to rent/live there. While your credit may be lousy now, bankruptcies on your CR will make your credit even worse.
If one of you has better credit now than the other, the one with the better credit should try to apply now - and not mention that you are married. Unless your rental unit is right beside the rental office no one will ever know who lives with you.

        Thats what i figured.

My credit is in the mid 640's and i figured if i tried to get any sort of rental after the BK, i would be SOL and i don't want to live in a cardboard box........

        Thanks....
