Pro Se Filing

Good luck SkyBlue. You will save yourself a lot of money, but you have to do it right. Here are some of the things I learned on my pro se filing.
1. Follow the directions given on the letter you get from the Trustee for the Creditors 341 Meeting. At out meeting two couples before us failed to bring something that was required and they had their 341 meeting postponed and rescheduled for another 2 weeks.
2. Make yourself checklists of papers to be completed. I am in Oregon and the Bankruptcy Court here pretty much lays it out in the order they want to receive it. But it can get confusing real quick. I created files on my computer and downloaded forms on one, and as they were filled out moved them into another file of completed forms. It wouldn't be so hard except there are a ton of forms mixed in the group that won't apply to Chap 7 filings. You have to find the correct forms.
3. The Bankruptcy Clerks will not give you legal advice, but they will give you procedural advice. Here in Oregon they were very helpful to me. Trustee Clerks were not helpful at all.
Again good luck, and hang close to this forum as you can get a lot of good advice from people who done it.

I don't check PACER often but maybe like every other week. I filed Pro Se for us. Check with your clerk's office because you may be able to check PACER for free at their office. I don't know if it is just something my local office does or not, but they tol dme when I filed that I could come in anytime and they woould log me into PACER and I could check my status for free. I actually need to go down tomorrow and check on progress.

Doesn't it feel so much better to know that all your need is a magic number (CASE #) to make all the calls stop

8cents a page adds up depending on how paranoid you get. I know I paid about $50 all in all by the end of my BK. And it still hasn't ended. Well, I got discharged, but I need to see CLOSED!
