How Long

I filed Ch13 July 24th, 2006
I converted to Ch 7 in October, 2006
I got discharged Jan 26th, 2007

But my case hasn't CLOSED

I'm guessing, if it hasn't closed by now, it should definitely be CLOSED by after Jan 26th, 2008 ! ? ? ?

RIGHT ?

After that, I could technically WIN a big some of money if my bankrupty is a year old, eh?

Any thoughts ?

Gosh, Catchme, what is going on? Is it the whole tax return issue? If so, file those taxes asap and get them off your back so you can move on. Be careful with those slots though. Money eaters.
I wonder too, if yu did happen to win a nice chunk of change when exactly does the period end where they would take it? And say you won $75,000 and you had a BK worth $45,000. Do they take the whole lump sum or only what you owe? Just curious. I dont gamble...Ive played slots a few times in my life and only live a short drive from AC. I do like to play cards though, (I STINK) with family/friends for fun. I like scrabble better.

Have you called the BK clerk office to find out what is going on??? When they did not discharge me on time I called them like three times then I got discharged.

No tax issues, no issues whatsoever actually. If I were to win a million dollars (highly unlikely but never say never), they would make me pay back the creditors. AND what stinks is I would still have the BK on my credit report the next 7-10 years at that!
I filed my taxes from 2006 and owed the IRS close to $5000, and have since paid them fuggers off (call it lucky PULL!).
How do I get the number to the clerks office? I'm in the state of Virginia (Easter District).

If you converted to chap 7, why would you have to pay credtors back?

I this with all chap 7s or just ones converted?

Well sopposedly if one hits a large sum of money I believe the Trustee has the right to open the case back up and I guess the BK judge would decide you would have to pay back all the creditors? Remember that story awhile ago, this NY man hit the lottery I believe days after he got discharged and the Trustee found out about it now there is a battle in court that he should pay back the creditors !

Im in the Eastern District of Virgnia. I won't bug my lawyer again until after Jan. 26th to be exact because that was the date of my discharge. I believe a case can stay open for up to year - I guess. That letter doesn't tell me nothing that I already know. I need to see THIS CASE IS CLOSED ! Yahhh, know !
