Case Closed...What if I win the lottery

The trustee is discharged from their duties...Can I start playing the lottery...Not going to but curious.....

Any money you win in the lottery after discharge is yours to keep.

Any inheritance, however, received within 180 days of filing, will go to creditors.

Although I question your desire to "waste" money playing the lottery...you can start playing any time after your case is discharged (strictly speaking, you can play the lottery after the date you "file" for BK).

Not much of a lottery player but it's nice to know it would all be mine. 180 to inheritance though....interesting that the trustee is released from their duties so no one would even know if you had a inheritance or won the lottery....

I was going to ask "is this a serious question??" lol, I never play because the chances of my winning are extremely slim - ok, there is NO chance I'd ever win. I'm that unlucky.

But, if you win, you wanna share with the rest of us?? I'd be happy to take that load of cash off your back for you!

              Hugs!

lol....not playing the lottery. I just thought it was interesting that the trustee was 'released' from all duties prior to 180 days since filing.

Oh my, I hate to say this magyar, but I agree with guzzie, I would pay it back, also.

                    Why? because I owe it.

I haven't played in years and I WAS playing those online games for the TV show Deal or No Deal, when I realized that if I won (while still in BK), the Trustee would get it, so I quit playing. LOL

I read Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover book and he calls playing the lottery "a tax on the poor". I can say I completely agree. I showed that to my husband but he still plays anyway - not a lot of money but he just can't resist his shot at the big millions.

RIGHT ON LOGAN! That will be my mega lotto, when I am discharged and closed.
BTW I buy the mega milions and powerballs when they get really huge, like over 100 million. I figure a few bucks for a chance at that kind of money isnt a bad deal. Who cares about those pick 3's and stuff. Back some years ago my husband was addicted to buying those buggery scratch offs. Most he ever won was around $20. He LOST hundreds. I keep him away from the casinos because we would be homeless. He knows he cant go too.
