    341 tomorrow!

Going for my 341 meeting tomorrow morning! I didn't think I was going to be that nervous, after reading that most meetings are painless, but my nerves are starting to get to me now that it is finally here.
It takes me only about an hour to get to Kalmazoo, but I think I will leave two and a half hours early just to be sure I'm not late! I was hoping to see a few people go before me, but I am scheduled in the first group, so I don't know if that is going to happen.
Probably won't be able to sleep tonight! Say a prayer, and wish me luck!

Park in the parking garage and walk, it's only about 3 blocks and when you go in the front door past the security, the door for the meetings is RIGHT there! We left from Cassopolis about 1-1/2 hours before our meeting and had plenty of time.

Okay, just wanted to let you know what happened.
To start it was a good thing I left 2 and 1/2 hours early as there was road construction, and I had to take a detour which put me back on I-94, past the exit I wanted to take, so I had to turn around and go back, and when I got downtown, I saw the building which was on the left, and I was over five lanes of one way traffic on the right, anyways tried to get back, but Kalmazoo has mostly one way streets, all seeming to go the way that I didn't want to go, and curving around, and finally I just turned right, and then couldn't find my way back to the building. While driving, a black cat ran out in front of my car, and I knew this wasn't going to be good.

So somehow, just by chance I get back on the right road, and I see the Federal building. I am starting to panic now because it is after 8:30, and my meeting is scheduled for 9:00 (don't show up late). But there is no parking anywhere around the building, so I see a parking lot two blocks down, and park. By this time I am so stressed that I am shaking, so I practically run to the front door, and proceed to set of the security detector. Had to go back through, and appartly it was my watch.

Anyways, it's about 8:45 and I ask the guard where the restroom is, he directs me, and I rush down to the door, and go to push it and a very mean looking woman is just coming out, and we almost collide, I say I'm sorry, and she just glares at me. So I huury back to the room, and my attorney is not there. There are also two attorneys there waiting for clients who haven't shown up. Now it is 9:00, and the trustee walks out, you guessed it, the mean lady from the bathroom, and calls my name. I say I'm here, but my attorney is not...Just great!! So she calls the next one, and I can hear her in there asking all kinds of questions to the woman who has gone in. My attorney finally shows up, and asks if they have called me, he got stuck in the construction.

He then tells me that this trustee has her own agenda, and does things her own way, which I can tell is not a good thing. He tells me to just answer her questions, and don't volunteer anything. So the woman ahead of me comes out in tears, and then it is my turn.

I don't remember all the things she asked, but it was alot. She then asked me if I had payed more than $600 to any one creditor, in the three months before filing bankruptcy, and I think I said no, and she says well I see that you paid your mortgage, that was more than $600, so besides that who have you paid, so I say well no one except this law firm, that had won a judgement, and I had set up installment payment for $250 a month. So she looks at it and tells my attorney that that should have been listed in assets.

By this time I am relly flustered as this is not going well. Then she asked me who had been gambling, and I said I had, and she asked me if I had stopped, and I said yes. She says how long ago, and I say about 2 years. She then says does your husband gamble, and I say no. Then she says well I see gambling winnings of $2000 on your 2006 tax return, and my attorney says wasn't that your husbands keno ticket? and I say yes. Then she says, has he stopped gambling. Anyways, I am the one who went and cashed in the ticket, but I didn't say that so now she will think I was lying. And it has been almost 2 years ago that we won that money, and I wasn't really considering playing club keno at the bowling alley as gambling, even though I know it is technically.

Then she goes on to our house, and asks me how I came up with the value of it, and I tell her from a real estate agent, which I have the cma for, but don't offer it as I am thinking I shouldn't offer anything extra, and she says, if I want to send someone to appraise your house, can they call you at your home number, and I say yes.

She concluded the meeting by saying she was continuing it till the 23rd of October. My attorney said I did good, but I came out feeling sick to my stomach, and I asked him about the keno ticket, and he said not to worry about it.

I asked him about the house, and he still says we can change to Michigan exemptions if she would want to take the house, and it would be protected under tenants by entiriety

So, I have just calmed down enough to be able to come on here and write this. I guess there is really nothing I can do now but wait and see what happens. As E.D. on Big Brother would say, "It is what it is".

Thanks for all the well wishes!
                        Kathy

Oh my gosh Kathy, sorry to hear your meeting went the way it did but yes, you are in the 60 day club. Usually these meetings go well however, if you have assets ie house, I hear you can get grilled. I wish you all the luck, the trustee gives you the head up of the things they are going to flag so it looks like she may look into the value of the home and the gambling situation. But I would not worry too much just wait and see what happens.

Overall... Welcome to the 60 day club. I remember living in Michigan, I lived in Ann Arbor. I know I94 all too well and all that construction. Man it is like they just work on the freeway for years. I would take Michigan ave all the way to Detroit area just to avoid the freeway.

Sorry to hear it didn't go completely smooth, but sounds like your lawyer was prepared for it.

Even though your 341 was continued you are still in the 60 day club, it starts with the first 341 meeting

I hope it goes smooth from here on end
