    Social Security Card-Cant find it

Did you guys need to have your social security card when you first met w/ the BK lawyer? If you didn't...did they reschedule your meeting? I can NOT find my social security card......is there something else I can use in its place?

i think i had to have it for my 341 but i am not sure if the lawyer needed it. Its not like you will file bk the first day you see the lawyer. you probably have enough time to reorder a duplicate SS card.

Is there a social security office in your town. If there is go there and request a new card. They will give you a letter that you can use with there seal and your social security number on it. Your new card will arive in a couple of weeks.

You will get a new card really fast if you go to your local SSA office with your picture ID. It will be there in less than 2 weeks if you go apply ASAP. You can also request a printout showing that it is your number if you need that (not sure if that is acceptable to the trustee or not but at least it has your number on it). Unless you ask for this printout you will not get one - all you will get is a receipt that you filed for a card, so make sure you ask for it.

You MUST have it for the 341 but I wouldn't think so for the atty. meeting.

As has been posted, they are really easy to replace. I'd get going on it ASAP.

For you 341 you can use a W-2 instead of the card

You just something with your name and SSN number both on it.
I have seen many people at 341 meetings just use their W-2's.
the trustee will take it just fine.
Your attorney should take it also

That could well be, but my atty. instructed me to take the SS card, period. And, the letter I received from him with intructions reiterated that. And, I might have even received written instructions from the court which also said bring the SS card (I forget that, right now...I just remember seeing it a few places in writing).

So......I was scared out of my mind I would forget it, and put it in a safe place and had notes all over so I wouldn't forget.

Good Luck mate, so long as you run by the office and request a new card due to lost card all should be well and you'll have it in time. My lawyer did require my SSN and DL for identification purposes. If you get a letter from the Social Security office all should be well.
