Take a look at these websites that discuss how to find a good bk attorney:

Attorney, lawyer, and law firm directory to find a lawyer, attorneys, and local law firms. Lawyers.com is the #1 lawyer directory.

You can search for qualified bankruptcy lawyers in your area here - http://www.martindale.com/ and http://www.lawyers.com/Bankruptcy/br...-location.html

Also one of the best bk attorneys you can have is a current or former trustee. Here's the list of current US Ch 7 trustees in the US - http://www.usdoj.gov/ust/eo/private_.../locator/7.htm . And here's the list of current US Ch 13 trustees - http://www.usdoj.gov/ust/eo/private_...locator/13.htm. Scroll down on both lists to your state.

Most trustees are active bk lawyers as well - they just can't represent a debtor as their lawyer and also be their trustee - that's a huge conflict of interest. Therefore you have to be careful to not contact every trustee in your area - that can taint the trustee pool and force the court to bring in another trustee. The court isn't fond of doing that.

Hope this gives you a head start. Come back when you want the list of questions to ask each lawyer during your initial consultation - glad to share those too

Frankly one of the best ways you can ensure the lawyer you retain is a good one is to understand bankruptcy very thoroughly yourself - it's homework time! That way you can spot the lawyers who may not be as well versed in the current bankruptcy law while you see who you think will represent you best.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

10/05/06 - Hearing to resolve 2 trustee objections
01/24/07 - Judge dismisses mortgage company objection
    09/27/07 - Confirmed at last!
06/10/11 - Trustee confirms all payments made
    08/10/11 - DISCHARGED !

I look and look and have spoke to several people, but no one really impresses me so far.

bkquestions, do not even think about filing BK right now. I am sorry to post this eveywhere but I want to protect you. you can find a lawyer to get you out this mess but no matter what if you go to a bk lawyer they may lie and tell you it is okay but you are in this Mortgage business like me, you know the truth... you can go down. Right now find other solutions then file. Filing now is not in your best interest... trust me.
Success is reachable, stretch out your arm and grab it.

PaKettle asked a similar question in this thread.

look through the suggestions there and see what could work for you.

With your complex situation I would recomend that you ask around for recomendations. I know it is embarassing and you don't want to many people knowing your buisness but right now you need the best representaion you can find. It also sounds like a BK lawyer may not be your best choice. Please seek out the appropriate representaion to help you figure this out.
