I want to sit it on some 341 meetings...

How can I find out the dates and times for the 341 meetings in my district??

    This is my district:

The United States Bankuptcy Court Middle District of Florida web site provides information and resources of the Bankruptcy Court for the general public and attorneys.

You are stressing too much about this. I suppose if you want to take the time to go see some, go ahead. But 341 meetings are mostly painless. The amount of time you will spend actually talking to the trustee will probably be less than 5 minutes. You spend more time sitting there waiting to be called.

As for finding out, in most districts the 341 meetings are held on the same day at the same time. Thus, you could probably get yourself a PACER account, and look up any persons case and it will tell you when the 341 meeting is. Or, you could simply call a trustee and ask.

I agree HHM. Worrying about a 341 is pointless (but we all did it ). I had thought about attending a couple before my own, but never did, and glad I didn't. It's a hassle going to the court house where my 341 was, enough traffic to choke a horse. Why bother to do it ahead of time. Actually everything said on here about 341s covers it.

You would have stuck out like a sore thumb if you came to my 341. It was smaller than the size of a classroom and only had a handful of cases. Most of the cases were handled by the same counsel as well. No creditors showed up either. The cases were done very quickly and the trustee probably would have wondered why you were there lol.

Don't worry about your 341. It was very painless, even more so for me since I was the only pro se filer and my trustee praised me for that. The only ones who took longer than 2 minutes were the ones who had filed once before, had pending settlements, owned a business, were missing forms, or sold/transferred property very recently.

Honestly, it's kind of a humiliating experience being in a bankruptcy court. Everyone knows why you are in there, so don't show up more than you have to. And it's pretty expensive to park too.

Just go early the day of your meeting. There is no need whatsoever to go to others 341 meetings. S&T

For some pro se filers, going to a 341 is helpful in seeing what exactly the trustee is looking for, the kinds of questions they ask and what they have "issues" with.

I will stick my neck out and say that if a pro se filer is savvy enough to read a ton, find this message board and ask pertinent questions then they will be in a much better position than a pro se filer who is totally unaware and uneducated in bk proceedings.

Sitting in on some 341 meetings is not a bad way to spend a few hours if it calms your nerves and takes a way the anxiety of the unknown.

There were people that sat in at my 341 that were not part of any of the groups. It might set your mind somewhat at ease.

Depending on the Court, you may or may not be able to get in if your name is not "on the list".

At our Court, the Federal Marshalls had a list of people that were scheduled to attend that day.

We had to show them our photo ID and SSN cards. They checked us off the list. We then went thru a metal detector and one of the Federal Marshalls took us downstairs in an elevator and escorted us to the 341 Hearing Room.

If your name was not on the list, you were not getting in to watch the Meeting.

I suppose if the original poster could find his/her trustee and sit in on some 341's prior to his/her own date, it might help ease some stress. Of course there are the standard questions that all trustees will ask, but there is no way of knowing what specifics he/she might ask about your own case when the time comes. Each case is different! As long as you haven't committed fraud in your case, there really is nothing to worry about. All one can do is answer the questions truthfully and to the best of his/her knowledge.

Sinkingfast is correct, a lot of the courthouses, is enter by your name on the list only...... with metal detectors..... Even our small local County Courthouse is that way since all the terroristics threats....

So really you are wasting your time and probably won't get in anyways...

We too own a business (sole-proprietorship). Ours lasted a few minutes longer than everyone elses (but everyone was taken to a separate room, so it would have done us no good to go early).

Whether you have an attny or you file Pro Se, some people just wanna know what to expect. Or they wanna see different attnys in action to help with the process to decide which attny to retain.

Lots of different reasons to sit in and observe one or more 341's before you actually file and have to go to your own.

As Bryan pointed out, the Trustee is gonna ask every one pretty much the same pat questions. Then, the Trustee will ask each Debtor questions specific to their particular case.

Going to a 341 to know what questions to prep for may be pointless. What you think the Trustee finds interesting and what actually peeks the Trustee's curiosity may not be one and the same thing.
