It only hurts your credit if you don't have a long history established or for utilization. It really doesn't matter if you're preparing to file BK and you cancel it unless it's one that has a very long history. Mine is less then a year open and I have other cards that have a much longer history so closing the card for me wouldnt' do anything either way.
