    Income after filing

    Hi all...
We are filing on July 2nd so our 341 meeting will be within 20-45 days after that (according to our attorney). I wanted to ask this question of you guys before I presented it to my attorney.
Right now we are making well below the average for our state so we have no problem passing the means test. However, I have an opportunity to apply for a job that will start at the end of August that will put us well over the average. Since my first paycheck would not be until September 20 and our 341 will be held by mid-August, do you think it would be OK if I went ahead and applied. I'd hate to apply if I'd have to turn it down if I got it. Does this make sense?
Any advice you all have would be great!
    Thanks in advance!

    Go ahead and apply.
There is alot that goes on before you actually have a job.
You won't have any income to reveal before filing.
Considering, the employer has to get all the applications together, review the applications, coordinate summer schedules to arrage interview by their staff, coordinate schedules to meet about said applicants, perhaps schedule second interview, more meeting, get approval from HR to make a job offer, negotiate salary, benefits, and start dates.
You will probably not even have an offer in hand before the 341.
    So, go for it.

Thanks Giant...I was hoping that that would be the general consensus. It's for a school district job. The position posting closes on the 18th of June, then they'll interview for it the week after that and they'll make their decision soon after so I'll know within a couple of weeks at the latest. It will begin when school starts at the end of August. Having worked for many school districts in the past, I know I won't get my first paycheck until 9/20. Obviously the paystubs that I present at my 341 will be for the low paying job I'm in now but will I get asked about "future income" or anything about the possibility of changing jobs, etc...In other words, if I don't say anything about starting a new job in late August, will it ever come up?

I would not mention the new job at the 341 unless I was asked about it and if asked about it it really does not "exist" unless you have been hired....... its just a possibility of a new job and higher income.

You should be okay and a new job should not affect your bankruptcy unless you are put into a Chapter 13, then the extra income would make a difference.

        Keep us posted.

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.

I'm in a similar situation. My 341 Hearing is on July 23rd and I start a new job on August 1. Other than 2 small advances from the company my 1st paycheck does not arrive until September 25th. I will let you know what I find out.....
