    My Meeting was Today... :(

    But postponed until 1/3/07 @ 9am

First off I am grateful I was adjourned rather than dismissed like others. I freaking didnt' send the trustee a copy of the filings which I wasnt aware I had to but thats my dumb mistake. On top of that I forgot my social security card at home another dumb mistake on me.

BUT I watched others be interrogated by the Trustee OMG it was crazy with one mans case it was obvious he misappropriated funds and was trying to get over she was calling out all types of holes in his story and I was sitting there like :0 and then one woman was a target of a scam 90days before she files which seemed OBVIOUSLY suspicious and that was her 3rd 341 meeting for the same case so they adjorned hers as well.

Others didnt show so they were dismissed and im just tired. I can't wait until this is over.

I am glad for you, Princess, that your case was continued and not dismissed.

Besides your SSN Card, did you think to get a list of what's needed to be filed with the Trustee??!!

If they didn't give you a list or you didn't jot it down, maybe the missing docs will show on PACER in your case file.

If it's just Forms and Schedules, pay stubs, checking acct statements, and such, you can gather that all together. Drop it off with the Trustee's office in advance of the next scheduled 341 Meeting.

That way, all you have to worry about on 341 Day is remembering to take your SSN Card with you.

Hopefully, next time will be smooth for you.

I am not an attorney. My comments are based on personal experience and research. Always consult an attorney in your area to address concerns related to your particular situation.

Off topic, but I still can't believe it when I hear that people don't show up for their 341!

Believe it or not... this doesn't suprise me that much... you can forget the day, get stuck in traffic, have a car break down, a relative in the hospital, a death in the family... tons of reasons for it to slip your mind or keep you from showing up.

What _I_ don't get is when people do all the filing, all the paperwork, do the pre-bk counseling, go to the 341, the trustee says everything is great and all that is left is for the debtor to do the financial management class and file the certificate(s).... and they don't do it. THAT doesn't make sense to me... but if you look in the files, you see case after case that does exactly this.

        Crazy.

Oh and Princess? chin up, you get a second chance at it... just make sure that you send everything to the trustee before the next date. If you aren't sure that you have everything... CALL the trustee an ask them! (or rather, ask his assistant/paralegal... who is the one who's handling most of your papers anyway). Then, put your SS card in your wallet, in the car, SOMEWHERE where you CAN'T forget it. If you don't drive, don't forget that you'll also need a current photo ID card like a current drivers license or something like that.

        Good luck!

My husband forgot his SSN card when we had our 341, and we were given a continuance. However, we didn't have to go to the second meeting if we were able to fax a copy of it to the Trustee (which we did immediately when we got back home - we had to travel an hour to go to court). You might make a copy of it and stick it in with your other paperwork just as an extra precaution.

You don't need an SS card at the 341, a current W-2 is fine or any other current official document that has your SS number on it. We just used our drivers license and w-2s as did others.

It's nice if you have the SS card, but no need to be putting off 341s. This is well documented on the court websites as well.

I hope no one takes offense to this but there would be no way in you know what that I or we would ever do this bankruptcy without an attorney! Regardless if it's chapter 7 or chatper 13.

I have a very good bankruptcy attorney who is on top of things before the trustee even has a chance to ASK for things...If i went in blind sided by myself I would be a wreck!

I would love to file with an attorney, but sometimes people have no choice. There is NO WAY I can come up with the money to pay for a lawyer. I'm having a hard enough time coming up with the money to pay filing fees. So I'm stuck reading the forum, reading books and making sure I get everything right
