Reaffirmation vs. paying difference between equity & exemption?

The equity of my 2002 Saturn exceeds my exemption by about $3,500.00. Do you think I would be able to just sign a reaffirm. agreement or would they (the trustees) most likely buy out my loan, pay my exemption and expect me to pay them the remaining $3500 (which I don't have)??? Very confused.

I owe 12 payments.

are you sure the equity is that much???? check edmunds.com and enter your mileage, condition, etc. don't over estimate the value.
