Hi all, long time lurker. I had my 341 yesterday. The ch. 7 trustee portion went as expected. Then a representative from the U.S. trustee asked questions and was really drilling me about my travel over a year ago. The travel was taken while I was employed full time. Two trips were not paid for by me, but a gift from my mother (family reunion, and a trip to see my son at college). My son goes to school in a touristy area, and I can absolutely see why it looks suspect that I am in that area so often. The trustee kept asking over and over how many times I’d been to this place in 2018. I honestly may have forgotten, because they aren’t vacations to me, they are visits to my son. He’s had mental health struggles and his dad refuses to visit (we are divorced).
He also asked several times about older balance transfers, and exactly what they were for. I answered to the best of my ability, but I c ant be sure on some of them. I was in survival mode, and had a lot of very large expenses (medical and home maintenance related) over the past couple of years. I lost my job last year, and my unemployment ran out a few months ago, and I’m truly out of ways to pay these debts. I’ve liquified my retirement funds, my checking and savings and my husband has paid a few months but now will not (we are separated but not divorcing). He has a high income, which I’m sure raises flags with the trustees.
Advice? Commiserations?
